Stephanie Chang’s Portrait Connections program nurtures artistic talent through community outreach.

Our Mission:

There are countless vulnerable or underserved members of our society, be they senior citizens living in retirement communities, dogs and cats looking to be rescued at your local animal shelter, or individuals facing debilitating health issues. Our Portait Connections students aspire to connect meaningfully with these groups bringing them a sense of community and joy through the artwork they collaborate with them to create. These artists hone their skills while simultaneously bridging generational or societal gaps and connecting with those who need more connection and nurturing.

Students At Work

Students will experience live demonstrations and be instructed in the basics of anatomy and portraiture. They’ll learn about gesture, value, and proportion and gain confidence in their artistic capabilities.

Meet Our Founder, Stephanie Tao-Hsuan Chang

Award-winning artist Stephanie Chang created the Portrait Connections program after witnessing an elderly loved one, Dora, who had held a special place in Stephanie’s life, move into a retirement community. Stephanie realized that, even with the care and support of family, elderly individuals benefitted greatly from experiencing more concrete ties to their community.

Stephanie, a professional artist, recognizes the power of art to renew and spread joy. Her hope for this program is to help students learn more about the most vulnerable members of our society and how small acts of kindness and care can make all the difference in another’s life.

This program is dedicated to Dora, and all others that are struggling with difficult life changes.
